Holy crap, I think I met this very guy at a New Years party in some fancy-pants enclave in Delhi two years ago. Anecdote time!

I remember him being really short, and rather pissed off because a) my girlfriend of the time wasn't responding to his come-ons (he was telling every attractive girl at the party about how he was 'India's first graphic novelist'), and b) I was the only other Bong male at the party, which automatically meant it was like two male fighting fish in the same fishbowl. I remember being really curious as to his work, but he was too busy trying to run interference and hit on my girlfriend.

Hilarious. I'll have to check these out, thanks for posting this!

I eagerly bought both the books expecting to finally see the ink-ed Indian, but *sigh* it just didn't do it for me. I wonder if my changing mindset, having recently (well, its been 2 yrs but still feels recent!) moved back to India has anything to do with it. Maybe in a few years I will go back to them and see if i feel any different.

I heard him give an amusing talk a few months ago in New Delhi which I didn't understand more than a few words of because it was in Hindi, and still found really engaging.

I was impressed, in other words.

Thanks for the reviews.

awesome piece lapata, makes me want to buy these "first ever" graphic novels in a hurry...while somewhat off topic, would love to hear your thoughts on Joe Sacco's Palestine and Safe Area Gorazde as well...

Thanks for the review. I loved Corridor, having spent many happy hours at the roadside booksellers pile in Connaught Place, not to mention the appearance of Sablok clinic and the party thrown by the smart South Delhi set.

Thanks for the review, Lapata. I really liked Corridor when it first came out; picked it up on a whim. It was the evocative sketches of Connaught place and the Delhi bookseller that totally bowled me over.
