Let There Be A Celebration

in holydays

I have been waiting, patiently and with bated breath, for this moment for a while now. Those close to me can attest that I am not a patient man, so this has been a rather Amir Hamzaish effort on my part.

Lapata is having a show!

Let me state that a bit more emphatically:
Lapata is having a show!

hooray; congrats! if I weren’t on the wrong side of the country I’d be there for sure. Do post pictures.

also, I second that earlier appeal for prints–if they become available, I’m buying. Though given lapata’s subject matter, that might require some explanation to my housemates (‘why is there a picture of ahmedinejad on the kitchen wall?’)

Thanks Sepoy, and thanks Elizabeth! Wish you could be here. I think I will do maybe a limited run of prints. More on that soon. And I’m sure your housemates will eventually adjust to having Ajad around the house.

Congrats, that sounds cool.
Alas I will have to wait till “Ironic Iconic” comes to Dallas.
Future GWB presidential library will be a good place to hold this exhibition.
Thanks Sepoy for variety

Congatulations! I wish I could be there, too!! Art in our family?? Stranger things have happened, I suppose.

Yay! Lapata, look forward to your taking your show on the road and bringing it here to New York. Maybe you can tag along as opening act for Socks’s book tour.

Next stop: NYC, Dallas…. My agent is in talks with Socks’ agent, so we’ll see. Fingers crossed!

There’s a cafe called “Bollyhood?”

Anyway, congrats, Lapata! Maybe I will swing by if I am not immersed in doing my tax forms before I leave for Nepal.

Come to Nepal to do a show, yes?

8 lapata January 20, 2008 at 2:10 pm

There is, weirdly. 19th and Mission, definitely come! If Socks is going to Nepal, we’ll definitely do a show there.

9 Farangi January 20, 2008 at 4:37 pm

Are you serious about NYC? If so, when? I can actually drive there. O this is great.

10 Farangi January 20, 2008 at 5:10 pm

And remember, folks, when at a CM “Event of the Century,” guests Do Not Disturb the Sexy.

11 Desi Italiana January 20, 2008 at 8:08 pm

“There is, weirdly.”

Hmm… maybe I have passed by it without knowing it was “Bollyhood.” Is it kitsch? Is there a beat up rickshaw outside of it?

“19th and Mission, definitely come!”

The Mission is ripe for discussion on gentrification…

But yes, I will try to come. The date also works out perfectly.

12 Desi Italiana January 20, 2008 at 8:12 pm

[15 second passed]

There are no photos or images of the cafe itself, just millions of Bollywood posters…

What’s a “Yelp Elite Party?” High class goondas meeting up?

G’s in the Hood.

Love your work & hope to make it to the reception!

Warmly,
Baraka

Farangi: I don’t know how we will safeguard the sexy without the full triumvirate in place.

DI: Um, how about lots of judgmental people all standing in one room yelping?

Baraka: Excellent! Hope to see you there!
